Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 9: Heady Mix Of Celebrity Lineup Vying For The Golden Trophy!

Celebrity dance reality show ''Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' has come a long way. Season 9 it is!! Yeah! And needless to mention, it has got Bigger and Better. Though I only wish, we still had Madhuri Dixit and Remo D'Souza as judges. And yeah, if you don't remember, Karan, Madhuri and Remo, together, judges three consecutive seasons of Jhalak. But never mind, the show must go on.

I must add here, Karan Johar, for last 5 years, has been one of the most consistent and popular judges on that hot seat. Others came by and left but this filmmaker with his tongue-in-cheek comments refuses to leave that place. You can see on his face how happy he feels while judging Jhalak. Honestly, if not the contestants or TRPs, just Karan Johar and the host Manish Paul can hold this on their shoulders. Super fun!

As for season 9, I am quite amazed to look at the heady mix of contestants. Evidently, after countless controversies of having contract issues with contestants in past seasons, the show makers wanted to play it safe and didn't really hunt much for suitable contestants. All they need to do was pick hottest faces from other reality shows on the same colour or leading characters from popular TV soaps and there you go... 

We have gems like Karishma Tanna, Nora Fatehi from Bigg Boss, hot hunks Shakti Arora and Arjun Bijlani, TV bahus aka hotties Helly Shah and Surveen Chawla.... Adding a firang tadka, we have twin sisters Poonam and Priyanka, fun element in form of Chutki (Gaurav Gera), Punjabi flavour with chef Harpal Singh, and the icing on the cake has to be Salman Yusuf Khan... who started off as a choreographer with Jhalak and after 9 seasons, is back as a celebrity contestant. Now that's quite a leap boy!

Just two weeks of the show, and I can say it ensures my weekend dose of entertainment. Too early to say who will win, but definitely I have my favourites in Karishma Tanna and Salman Yusuf Khan.

Let's see more action unfolding in coming weeks.

Hello guys, thank you for all the love and support. Gosh! I can't believe I have been away for 3 years. Not that I stopped watching Indian soaps or analyzing the nitty-gritty of spicy reality shows.. but working with a blogging website for last 4 years kind of detached me from my own blog...

Nevertheless, I am back now and promise you many more interesting stories in future. From Balika Vadhu, Sasural Simar K to India's Got Talent, Roadies and of course my very favourite Bigg Boss... you cannot miss all the latest gossip and update.

Bigg Boss: Juhi, the Winner or Loser?

Okay, if not being abusive, staying forcibly calm in any given damn situation, supporting the wrong person always and faking it all through were the parameters on which Bigg Boss 5 winner was chosen… then Juhi Parmar certainly deserved to WIN!!!

But most of the audiences were left in a deep state of shock last night when the results were announced in the finale episode. No one was really expecting that Juhi would win but somewhere it was quite anticipated ‘coz apart from Amar, only she was the most famous of the lot.

Juhi, the favourite television ‘bahu’ Kumkum tried her best to live up to her screen character and maintained her well-thought-of image throughout the show. She spoke only when it was required, earned brownie points by all possible means, misbehaved with the host and then very sweetly apologized, fought with contestants and then pretended to be full of forgiveness and kindness – PHEW! I must say, only a polished daily soap actress is capable of doing such a great job.

Had she been her real self, (some of what we saw on another reality show in the past ‘Pati, Patni Aur Woh’), then of course, we would have applauded her victory. But alas, Juhi was giving just another dose of her saas bahu saga to the reality TV viewers. Hope she realizes that there’s no FUN is winning a show where you remained FAKE, practiced full restrain over your actions and reactions, ganged up with the wrong characters and didn’t let your real character come out even once.

Yeah, she might have won the show but she has lost respect of all those who loved her once (during her Kumkum days), and I am one of them. She never stood by what’s right, always remained biased towards her so-called close set of friends and as a result, earned all the hate and disrespect from audiences. Even when Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan tried to make her realize this fact, she yelled and lost her temper. So is that the real Juhi Parmar??? Well, only she would know this!

The fact is, majority of aam junta hates her now, for the fact that she was on Sky’s side, who was the most hated and negative housemate in Bigg Boss. And supporting the wrong is a bigger crime than doing something wrong. Hope you’d agree Juhi.

As for the deserving ones, oh, without a second thought Mahek and Sid were undoubtedly the hot favourites to win but as they say everything is rigged, pre-planned and scripted, even I have my own doubts now. Nevertheless, it’s time to come out of this Bigg Boss hangover and get tuned to and write on some more interesting reality shows that have started off.

Sunny Leone 'faked' it all in Bigg Boss

Sunny Leone can give any Hindi film actress or any television soap queen a run for their money, for what she did inside the Bigg Boss house was Incredible and Unbelievable.

She so successfully and flawlessly kept her identity under wraps that housemates had no other option but to love for the innocence and cuteness she showed during her stint on the Bigg Boss show. Not only inmates, Sunny never let her true self come out in open even in front of the audiences who religiously followed Bigg Boss. Kudos to you girl… NO wonder Bollywood was missing you for so Long!!!

But on a serious note, I just hated the way she was being so pretentious all this while she was on the controversial reality show – behaving (read pretending) to be a sweet-little-cute-coy girl, who loves to live in her fairytale-like world and being friends with only a few. Oh come on, this is certainly not the way how a porn star of international acclaim would LIVE her life.

Just to add, I wouldn’t have said this about Sunny until I watched a video featuring her that left me shocked and stunned, and yes, forced me to think – why the hell Sunny Leone is not being herself???

And mind you all reading this Blog, the video wasn’t any movie scene or any porn clip, but showed Sunny Leone talking candidly to a friend at a radio station and she was as overt and explicit in her conversation as you’d think an adult star to be. ‘See it to believe it’, as she admits that she’s highly sex starved and always carries sex toys with her so that wherever she feels the urge, she can fondle herself and satiate her sexual needs. Okay! So then what was all that we saw on BIGG BOSS? Forget talking such things on the show, she was barely behaving like an adult star in terms of her dressing, talks, opinions etc.

If she is so damn scared that Indians (audiences and participants on the show) are judgmental and would react negatively to her personality – then I’m sorry, she shouldn’t have chosen to participate in the show in the first place… coz the format of the show says – “you have to be your real self and not hide behind masks”. Alas! Sunny Leone went against the stated and didn’t let a bit of her real self come out in open. What a pity!

Remember the way she revealed her identity, ‘I am the contract girl for Vivi entertainment. If you love me, okay and if you don’t, then I don’t care’. Excuse me, how many Indians would know what is vivid entertainment and what kind of movies they make? If you were so carefree and confident about what you are, it could have been as easier to say, ‘I am a porn star and I make porn films’. Anyways, lesser said, the better!!!

Sunny Leone is out of the Bigg Boss house and if reports are to be believed, it’s because the channel got repeated notices to evict her for it wasn’t a great idea to invite a porn star to be a participant on the show that is viewed by families across the globe.

Pooja Bedi, get a life you 'Moron'

I'm so sure most of the ladies out there would be glad that Pooja Bedi is out of the Bigg Boss House. Maybe not as happy as she was... but at least a contentment that there's no 'dirt' left in the show now! In past few days, I've heard lots of mixed reviews about Ms. Bedi's social status, entitlements, choices in life et al... Phew! Who's even interested to listen good things about a lady like her! Whatever she portaryed about her image on the national television isn't hidden from anyone, so no point safeguarding her Now!!!

I came across someone very close to Pooja and the conversation we had about her didn't really surprise me much but yes... it helped validate my opinions and thoughts about her! And I got a chance to know the true Pooja Bedi... who just isn't like what most of us would know her as. Read WHY!

PS: Sorry, I can't reveal the identity of the person sharing this information but it's as authentic as the real Pooja Bedi is. :)

"I know Pooja Bedi for over ten years now and I've shared fantastic terms with her and we've partied together many times. But...... She is shrill, khit pitiya, loud, dominating, manipulating, chalaak. She is only interested in money and what you can give her. She is harassing her ex husband for money and troubling him with nasty messages. And before she went into the Bigg Boss house, she told people that she should stay long so that she could earn more. She is not able to keep any relationship and men find her loud, aggressive and run away from a relationship with her. Before she went into the house, she made hysterical calls to her ex husband Farhan Furniturewalla to demand money and harrased Laila Khan. She is jealous of his new found happiness. She had done a settlement before her marriage ended whereby he had given her house, car, driver, money, lakhs per month... but when he got married, she got jealous and wanted to increase her demands and started making nasty calls to him and to Laila. Basically, she is jealous of anyone and everyone who has a happy marriage, coz she has never been able to be with anyone. They all run away, cos they find her loud. She's a big sham. She has troubled a lot of people in her life."

Shonali 'Nag' Rani – Showing her true colors

Seven weeks are over, still it feels like it all just began a minute ago. Everyday, there’s a fresh fight or a new argument that Bigg Boss inmates come up with - to entertain us, the viewers. But in past couple of weeks, a few observations have left me stunned. First of all, I can never come to terms with the fact that why can’t these housemates take it like a ‘game’ – a reality show that they have participated in. Why do weekly nominations bother them so much? Is it the fear of eviction that takes a toll on their mental health or is it the ‘ego fight’ that they don’t want to lose it to some other housemate on the elimination day??? Whatever it is… the way it brings out the real side of the contestants is so annoying and surprising too.

The biggest paradigm shift that I’ve noticed on this show is in Shonali Nagrani’s ‘Personality’. GOD!!! What a lady she has turned out to be! Initially a cry-baby who mostly remained quiet and appeared to be a sweet girl, she drifted completely post her nomination and then was the time to show her 'Real Side'.

Out of nowhere, she took a conscious decision to be 'happy' and not get hurt. The true-friends (the gang with which she always gelled) suddenly became aliens and she openly admitted that all this while when she remained silent, it didn’t really mean, she supported them (Sky, Sid, Juhi and Pooja Bedi). And on top of everything, she remembered everyone’s signature traits and didn’t mind mimicking them in front of the other housemates. Wow Wow! What an opportunist, I must say! Seemed, the lady didn’t leave a single chance to grab footage and try to convince the Indian junta that she too can give them masala and channel, the TRPs. KUDOS Ms. Nagrani. I can really say that whatever time you've spent with Pooja Bedi & Juhi Parmar on the show; they very well taught you the dramatic ways to get camera attention and win hearts.

This also makes me wonder if she’s the 'same' Shonali who always portrayed that she can’t remember things and easily forget sequences of a discussion, which can lead to confusions. So she preferred remaining mum... Isn’t surprising enough??? Or was it just a ‘Short Term Memory Loss’? Phew!

And let’s not forget that the former Miss India, Shonali has been the root cause behind two major fights that happened in the Bigg Boss house. First, when she wrongly conveyed Sky’s words in front of Laxmi & Pooja Bedi resulting in a huge ugly fight between Sky & Mahek. Second, when she said misquoted Vida on the food issue and triggered off a fight between Sid and Vida. And now, when her name was nominated, she declared that she won’t remain silent anymore… she would SPEAK UP!!! HA HA HA HA… If your silence in the past made way for most dramatic fights on Bigg Boss, we are surely waiting to watch out what would happen when you'd actually ‘SPEAK UP’ now!!!

Anyways, Pooja Mishra & Mahek would have to strive hard to get some footage now, for Shonali is in full action to make her presence felt. But wait… maybe Porn Star Sunny Leone’s entry in Bigg Boss House would change things… or not? hmmm… time will tell… till then, stay tuned and keep reading!

Bigg Bos: The dirty and ugly side!

I'm sure most of you reading this blog would have read and said enough about the dirty verbal fight that took place between Mahek and Akashdeep 'Sky'. As a regular follower of the show, I was somehow trying to observe and understand the psyche of the inmates inside Bigg Boss House and establish reasons why do they behave in a particular manner at times!!!

Surprisingly, it seemed as if Sky was only brought in the show 'coz he knew Mahek already and both had known some dark secrets about each other (while they used to stay in Goa).

But who expected that the entangled chords would open up like this on national television and the verbal outburst would take a toss on someone's character. I'm sure even the show makers wouldn't have foreseen this (if at all the show is NOT scripted)...

Mahek's past was outrageously brought in limelight and the poor lady lost it and broke down... Though I quite agree with a few inmates (read Mandy) that if she didn't have any such thing to hide, why didn't she confront Sky and finished the argument!!! It clearly looked like Mahek was trying to avoid any confrontation about his past life. And as a result, even she threw up on Sky's character and the fight continued...

Woo hoo, and we thought it was just an entertainment show that lets us, the audience, know these so-called glamorous stars a bit more and watch them enjoying some quality time without being camera conscious. Alas, the ugly turns have made life hell, not only for inmates but for the viewers too... 'coz no matter what those who love watching the show would continue to do so... and have to bear all these lashing out, personal attacks, fights et al.

All said and done, Bigg Boss has reached a stage where it can be aptly called a platform that can propel even a saint to lose his calm and show up the ugly side of his character, which no one might have known or seen so far. And that's exactly what the poor housemates are going through. Let's see what's more to come in the coming weeks... Enjoy!!!
